Being of service is my calling.

My favorite mantra is:
Lokah samastah sukhino bhavantu.

It means:
May all beings everywhere be happy and free, and may the thoughts, words, and actions of my own life contribute in some way to that happiness and to that freedom for all.

That about sums it up. Sat Nam.

My Road to Thai Massage

I began teaching yoga in 2007 and along the way, I received a Thai massage. I fell in love with the bodywork and it was then I decided to move from my study of yoga therapy into massage therapy. I started massage school in 2012, specifically with Thai massage in mind. After 650 hours at NC Massage School, I ventured into Thai massage training. Now at 600+ hours of traditional Thai massage training across the US, Europe, and Thailand, I offer you the best of Western and Thai medical theory and practice. I am trained and seek to keep my Thai practice as traditional as possible. Yet, I also include Western bodywork practices for your best outcome. My style is slow, deep, and meditative. I try to be fully present with each massage and honor the 4 brahma viharas, as the practice of loving-kindness, compassion, appreciative joy, and equanimity.

Teaching is my path.

I started teaching sewing classes in college. I went back to school at 30 to get my teaching credential in Special Education. I have taught all kinds of craft classes, cooking classes, art, sewing, hula hooping, yoga, massage, foam rolling, plant walks, gardening, and aromatherapy - you name it! I’ve studied it and have taught it to someone.

My passion now, it to teach other massage therapists, not only Thai massage but how to start and run their own businesses.

Freedom, authenticity, and compassion are my life’s work.

It is what I strive for every day. It is what I am looking for and learning how to be. These are my core beliefs. Easier said than done, but it is my goal. To truly be authentic to my wildest, weirdest, messy, crazy self, warts and all. It is to be free from suffering and free to be who I am, just as I am right now. To accept all of me. And I ask the same of you and I hope to give you the same choices and freedom to be your fully authentic wonderfully wild weird self too.

Liz Kriz has devoted her bodywork study to the Eastern modalities of Thai massage, cupping, and reflexology. She has trained from DC to Portland and Canada, London, and Thailand. Liz is always seeking to go deeper and learn traditional medical theories and local knowledge. One of her greatest assets is her ability to delve into the esoteric and bring knowledge to her students in a meaningful and approachable style.

Pursuing Thai massage was her impetus to becoming a licensed bodyworker. As a lifelong yoga student (she was in the back of a class at three years old!), she immediately fell in love with the way Thai massage felt to receive. When she took her first 40-hour training and was blown away at its effectiveness with her clients. Her next question was, why? Searching for the answer, she traveled across the US and sought teachers who taught the Medical Theory of Thai massage.

Liz now continues that deep learning with her current mentor and teacher, Natasha DeGrunwald of the London Institute of Thai Yoga Massage, Sacred Health Method, and trips to Thailand.

She teaches Thai massage from foundation to advanced concepts, Thai Medical theory, spirit medicine, and herbal medicine, along with modern cupping utilizing silicone cups, facial cupping, facial & body gua sha, and advanced traditional fire cupping techniques.

Liz Kriz began teaching craft and sewing classes in 1995. She loves to share information and give you the tools and understanding to keep creating well beyond your classroom.

“Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing, there is a field. I’ll meet you there.

When the soul lies down in that grass, the world is too full to talk about.

Ideas, language, even the phrase ‘each other’ doesn’t make any sense.

— Rumi
